Richard Stock, director of Linton Village Motors, in Abington, has donated a 1969 Triumph Toledo for the students to renovate.

Tom Toolan, of West Suffolk College, said: “Linton Village Motors has donated the car to the college for the renovation project because Richard can see the value of restoring these classic vehicles, and giving young people who are new to the trade an insight into automotive history.”

Once the car has been restored it will be offered as a prize in a charity raffle, to raise money for BEN, a charity founded in 1905 to provide financial and emotional support to people with a connection to the motor industry.

Mr Toolan said: “Many people, like myself, grew up with this type of car, and have fond memories of them.

“This is a chance to own a piece of history, perhaps join the Triumph owners’ club to meet other enthusiasts - and support a very worthwhile charity at the same time.”

Tickets for the draw will be offered to employers, students and staff at West Suffolk College.
