A UNIQUE new service has opened in Haverhill, with the launch of an all-in-one grooming centre dedicated solely to the male of the species.
Just Cutz Barber Shop, Menz Grooming Centre, was officially opened in Queen Street, Haverhill, last week by the town’s mayor, Les Ager – his final public engagement before relinquishing the civic role to his successor, Elaine McManus.
The interior of the building – formerly occupied by Skin & Tonic – has been completely refurbished and now has five cubicles to complement the hairdressing side of the business. Each of them is dedicated to the individual client’s particular grooming need, with cubicles for tattooing, consultations, tanning, waxing and massage.
Owner Jo Rosenwold has established Just Cutz over a 14-year period, the last seven of which saw the business based in Mill Road.
Back then it was simply a barber’s shop, but as the business got busier Jo needed more space and came up with the idea of a complete male grooming service after seeing a gap in the market, particularly when a number of men said how uncomfortable they felt using a unisex grooming service.
She said: “Although we are in the middle of a recession, there’s never a good time to move a business, so I thought we should just go for it really.
“Because it’s a bigger shop we decided to do a grooming service just for guys.
“I don’t think there is anything just for guys in East Anglia.
“I think ours is the first one.”
Appointments will not always be necessary for haircuts, but they are required for any of the other services.
