CREATING a relaxed atmosphere that everyone can enjoy is the aim of the new licensees of the Plough Inn in Hundon.
Kate and Kevin Wood took over the reigns five weeks ago and have already fallen in love with the area thanks to the beautiful countryside, local produce and real ales.

And after moving from an Australian-themed restaurant in Norwich, they are happ
y to be away from the rush of the city.

Kevin said: "We've been accepted by the locals and the staff, and it's nice to be in the country and woken up by the birds rather than traffic."

The couple have been running pubs, restaurants and hotels for 11 years but decided to move to the country and have taken over running the pub, restaurant and seven en-suite bedrooms at the Plough.

"The views and the setting of the area itself is lovely and it's fantastic from a foodie point of view and someone who loves their real ale. I love this part of the country," said Kate.

"We have some fantastic produce in Essex and the best real ales come out of Norfolk and Suffolk.

"It means we are able to change our menus around and move with the seasons.

"We want people to feel they can come at any time to have a snack or a pint at the bar with us.

"If they want to bring their kids in or have a meal or have pint they are more than welcome.

"The feeling for the Plough is very strong with the locals and it's been in need of a bit of TLC for a while and hopefully we can do that."

The summer menu is launched this Friday with a slightly Mediterranean feel to it, but Kate and Kevin haven't forgotten about the old favourites that will still grace the menu.

On top of that there are steak nights, fish nights and a beer festival is being lined up for September, with live music also on the agenda in the form of the Louisiana Stompers on bank holiday Monday.
