A BUDDING avionics engineer has received a massive boost to his career prospects after being recognised as the best student on his national diploma course at West Suffolk College.
Codey Leatherman, 19, of Rutland Court, Haverhill, won the Bury St Edmunds Chamber of Commerce Chairman's Shield for his efforts on his engineering course.

He is starting an apprenticeship at Marshalls Aerospace and wants to go on to be an avionics engineer at the Cambridge company.

"I was really pleased because it's an award chosen by all the tutors so I'd impressed with my work," said Codey.

"I'm really proud because that's a pretty good award and all my tutors have said that it's quite a prestigious award to get."
