NATALIE Clarke, winner of the CB9 Factor competition promoted by the Haverhill Echo and photographer David Doughty of The Gallery, says she wants to change the negative view of Haverhill often held by those who live outside the town.
The 20-year-old hairdresser who works at Skin And Tonic, in Queen Street, will now have a year as an ambassador for the town, as well as winning the host of prizes listed on the left.
The competition drew over 20 entrants and nearly 1,700 votes, and Natalie was just ahead of the runner-up Santanna Shepherd.
Echo editor David Hart and The Gallery proprietor David Doughty both paid tribute to all those who had entered, and particularly the three finalists.
"I was particularly pleased to see a wide cross-section of entries and to see the mature and informed aims and opinions of the three finalists," said Mr Hart.
"All three were lovely girls and it's a pity there can only be one winner.
"However, the competition has been so popular, I think I can confidently say there's always next year!"
Mr Doughty said: "I am very pleased with the success of the competition as a whole, as it was a pioneering idea.
"I would like particularly to thank those who sponsored the prizes.
"I wanted to do a competition that was in the interests of the whole town and I hope groups or organisations who are working to raise the profile of Haverhill will now be able to make use of our new ambassador at their events."
One of the winner's major events during the year will be opening the Haverhill Show at the beginning of July.
If any organisation has an event which they would like the CB9 Factor winner to attend they should contact the Echo's Karen Steel on 01440 764008 or e-mail karen.steel@haverhillecho.com
