TWO young Haverhill musicians took part in the West Suffolk Musician Of The Year festival, last Monday, held at the Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds.
Ryan Morley, 11, and Tomos Morgan, 13, won their heats (preliminary and intermediate respectively) earlier in the year, playing cornet, and were then invited to take to the Theatre Royal stage for the festival final.

Instrumentalists from all over the county performed solos of their choice in the newly-refurbished auditorium.

Jane Wright, head of music at Samuel Ward, accompanied the boys, who played exceptionally well.

Both are members of Haverhill Youth and Community Band.

Ryan also plays for Hadstock Silver Band.

Also competing was string-player Lewis Tingey, a pupil at Samuel Ward Arts and Technology College, who performed in the preliminary section.
