HAVEBURY has not been satisfied with the recent standard of grass-cutting in a number of areas including the Chalkstone estate in Haverhill.
Norfolk County Services (NCS), the contractor which Havebury employs to carry out its grounds maintenance work, has been made fully aware of our concerns and the complaints received from residents.
Grass-cutting commenced later than Havebury would
normally wish this year due to poor weather.
NCS did not want to churn up the clay subsoil in the area when it was wet as this would damage the lawns and cause further problems.
In addition to this, the machinery used by NCS to cut and mulch the cuttings was not available at the beginning of the grass-cutting season due to a technical fault.
However, the equipment has now been repaired and grass-cutting services have resumed as normal.
A team from Havebury and NCS inspected the Chalkstone estate on June 4, 2008, and was pleased to report that the problem of poorly-scattered cuttings was no longer evident, although the grass was in need of cutting due to a particularly wet May.
One of Havebury's primary aims is to ensure that our residents are proud of the areas they live in.
To this end, Havebury will continue to work closely with NCS over the coming months to ensure that grass cutting is bought up to an acceptable standard in all areas.
