I AM appealing to Haverhill Echo readers for potential help in a project I'm planning.
As a student who is interested in church architectural and ecclesiastical history in Britain and Ireland from the Celtic period onwards, I am now looking to write my first book about church history.

The contents of my proposed book, which I'll be
starting research for soon, will cover the history of the local churches in the Glem Valley.

To be precise these are: Holy Trinity Church, Boxted; St Mary's Church, Glemsford; Ebenezer Baptist Chapel (closed in the 1980s and is now a private house), Glemsford; Glemsford Methodist Church, Glemsford; All Saints Church, Hartest; St Margaret's Church, Somerton; St James' Church, Stanstead.

I can visit most of these churches on foot and I plan to start research at Bury St Edmunds' branch of Suffolk Record Office, which will hopefully lead to other avenues of research.

I am particularly on the lookout for any information readers might have about Glemsford's Ebenezer Baptist Church, built in 1829 and closed in about 1986 — specifically I'm after copies of any old photographs which anybody may have of this church.

Of course, any other useful information or leads concerning Glemsford Ebenezer Baptist, or any of the other churches mentioned above, would be appreciated.

Anybody with information or leads can contact me on my email: history.buff@live.co.uk

MR M JOINER,

Glemsford.
