I am delighted to announce that the BBC have scheduled Beyond Boundaries – Across the Andes for July.
To refresh any memories, in March 2007 I went to Ecuador with nine other disabled people to take part in a gruelling trek across the country.
Pushing wheelchairs across boggy terrain, up volcanoes as well as dealing with my own disability of dyspra
xia and the disabilities of my team-mates – this journey was no easy feat.
However we accomplished what seemed at times impossible, and now you'll be able to share the journey.
The programme starts on Sunday, July 6, at 9pm on BBC2. It will run for four consecutive nights until Wednesday, July 9.
I am proud to say that I went beyond my 'boundaries' on this expedition and I hope you will all see that not only can disabled people do the unthinkable, but young people can also do the unthinkable.
I have this to look forward to, but before that, I am off on another adventure.
This time I am to push a wheelchair with my Beyond Boundaries team-mates up Britain's highest mountain, Ben Nevis, on May 31, for the charity Scope.
In Ecuador, we did push a wheelchair up the world's largest volcano, Cotopaxi, but unfortunately the route is much different from the one we faced in Ecuador.
Ben Nevis will take us an estimated four hours to get up and four hours to get down and we need to be very quick to try to beat the cold.
I am looking for help in sponsorship for this event. Scope is a fantastic charity which focuses on promoting and supporting people with disabilities, and I am looking to raise as much money as possible for this charity, as well as once again promoting disabled people.
If anybody can help me, please email me at l.plumridge@btinternet.com. Any monies donated would be most gratefully received.
LIAM PLUMRIDGE,
Beaufort Court,
Haverhill.
