17-year-old girl seriously injnured in car crash

Magpas, The Emergency Medical Charity were requested to assist at an incident on A1017 at Haverhill on 8 February 2010 @ 07:15.
Emergency Medical Team members attending were volunteer Dr Alistair Steel and critical care paramedic Simon Standen. The Magpas Medical team went rapidly to the scene from Magpas' base at RAF Wyton, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. Also in attendance were NHS Ambulance Trust Paramedics, SARS and Police.

A 17 year old female's car was in collision with another vehicle. The Magpas Emergency Medical Team anaesthetised the female driver at the scene, before escorting the patient to Addenbrooke's Hospital by land ambulance. The patient has sustained serious head and multiple fractures. Her condition is life threatening. The other driver sustained minor injuries.

Deborah Florence, spokesperson for Magpas said: "Thanks to the very sophisticated training Magpas volunteer Doctors and paramedics receive, our Emergency Medical Team were able to deliver an advanced level of pre hospital medical care at the scene, it is through our close working partnership with the East of England Ambulance Trust that we are able to deliver such a rapid and coordinated response to anywhere in the East of England. The emergency services all worked together really well at the scene"
