A SMOKE grenade was found in Linton on Monday.
Police were called at 9am after village custodian Colin Tofts found the small explosive on top of litter in a bin in Camping Close.

Parish clerk Sue Parry called police and the device was taken to the village hall.

A bomb squad came at 12.30pm to remove and dispose of the device.

Ms Parry said: "There wasn't much drama initially as it said 'smoke grenade' on it so I wasn't too concerned about it.

"Once the police were involved we all felt a lot happier about the situation."

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Police said: "It seemed like a more modern sort of device and had 'smoke grenade' written on it."
