GOLD and bronze Duke of Edinburgh Awards have been presented to five members of First Kedington Ranger Guides after the quintet successfully fulfilled a series of challenges.
Sarah Kelly, 22, and Christine Wigmore, 19, received gold awards, and Lisa Perrett, Sarah Sprigg and Kirsty Ashman got bronze during a recent presentation at Kedington Primary School.

All five had to complete skills, services and physical recreation sections and an expedition.

The two gold winners also completed an extra residential challenge; Sarah helping to build a nursery and make furniture for a school in Kenya and Christine working in the kitchens of a guide chalet in Switzerland.

In May Sarah accepted her award from Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh in a ceremony at St James Palace in London. Christine is due to visit the palace in October.

Guider Lol Farr, said of Christine and Sarah: “They’ve been with me since they were 14 and just worked their way up.”

Emma Norden, Jessica Waller, Katrina Williams and Jasmine Wells have also been invested into First Kedington Ranger Guides.
