GUESTS at a wedding in Kedington on Saturday not only got to celebrate the special day of Hayley Pidgeon and Richard West, but shared the experience with one of the most intelligent and best-known scientists in the world.
Professor Stephen Hawking was one of the guests at the wedding, which took place at St Peter's and St Paul's Church, Kedington.

Professor Hawking, 66, is based in Cambridge, where he is Lucasian professor of mathemetics.

He is best known for his contributions to the fields of cosmology and quantum gravity, and his book A Brief History Of Time spent 237 weeks in the Sunday Times Best Sellers' List.

Professor Hawking suffers from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a condition which paralysed him, and has resulted in his using a computer to speak, programmed via a muscle in his cheek.

To younger readers he may be better known for his appearance, as himself, in The Simpsons.
