VISITORS to this year's Haverhill Show, which will be taking place on Saturday and Sunday at the recreation ground, are being encouraged to use their imaginations and dress up in fantastic and colourful ways.
In previous years, the show has held fancy dress competitions along different themes, including clowns and cowboys, but this year there are no barriers to participants' creativity.
The fancy dress competition will run alongside a pass-the-parcel c
ompetition, at 3pm, on Sunday, in the main arena.
As always, the show – which raises money for Haverhill charity LAMP H, and other local organisations – will provide a great opportunity to see some of the talent, and variety of interests, present in the town.
There will be dance extravaganzas from Collette's Entertainment School and Dell's School Of Dance, and there will also be great poise and focus on display when the Tang Soo Do Karate Group demonstrates its skills.
Vintage cars, motorbikes and scooters will provide plenty to keep the petrol enthusiast in the family busy and is bound to be an eye-catching display of chrome in the predicted sunny weather.
In the current economic climate, the car boot sale is bound to prove even more popular, providing sellers the opportunity to clear some clutter and make some money, while bargain hunters can search for that must-have item at a knock-down price.
Anyone wanting a pitch can simply turn up on the day, from 8am, and pay £6 and the car boot sale is open to individuals, organisations and traders.
Sunday is also the day for the hugely-popular baby show, and a fun dog show.
Take your beautiful babies to the rec for 11am, and your perfect pooches should be there for 11.30am.
No members of the family are left out, as there will also be a glamorous granny competition, and a knobbly knees contest, both at 3pm on the Sunday.
The traditional five-a-side football event, and car boot sale, takes place on Sunday, July 12.
