IN A scene reminiscent of the hit BBC comedy The Vicar Of Dibley animals and humans came together as one at a church in Birdbrook, to share their very own pet service.
The service at St Augustine’s Church on Sunday, attracted a real menagerie amongst its congregation as about 40 people were joined by various four-legged or feathered friends, including two ponies, chickens, rabbits, cats and dogs.

Non-pet owners took along their favourite cuddly toy for what was the first service of its kind at the church, an event organised by wardens Richard Walker and Mary Ann Pryke.

The duo expressed their delight at the success of the inaugural pet service and the response from parishioners and hope to repeat it at least once a year in future.
