VOLUNTEERS are being sought to don their wellies and help clean up a litter-strewn stretch of the Stour Brook in Haverhill.
Environmentally minded individuals just have to either turn up at 10.30am on Saturday (May 17) at Motts Field, off Chalkstone Way, or call Ricky Green on 07740072249 to find out more and register their interest.
Mr Green works for Anglian Water and is co-ordinating the first ever River Care project in Haverhill, an initiative run in partnership with Encams and the Environment Agency that entails cleaning the area of the river that runs alongside Motts Field.
He said: "When you sit outside the snooker club and look down(the river) it does look a bit of a tip.
"We've got kingfishers and other things down there and we want to protect them as well."
Anyone who turns up on Saturday can see what is required of them and if they want to take part Mr Green will take their details and arrange a clear-up date for the near future.
Equipment will be provided for the clean-up, although participants do need to take their own appropriate footwear.
