Town's show was a 'resounding success'

NEW entries were again in evidence as this year's summer show by Clare Horticultural Society once more proved a resounding success.
Saturday’s event attracted a large number of entries and visitors at Clare Town Hall.

Society secretary Olive Smith said: “We had a very good show. We were very pleased that we had three new people exhibiting vegetables and we had a lot of people through in the afternoon.”

The show results were as follows:

Robert Hickford Memorial Trophy for highest total marks in all classes, Anthony Smith; highest total marks in cut flower classes, Anthony Smith; highest marks in vegetable classes, Anthony Smith; highest marks in fruit classes, Geoff Snowling; highest marks for home made wine class, Trevor Wells; highest marks in pot plant classes, David Pledger; highest marks in cookery, Christine Little; highest marks in craft classes, June Smith; highest points in floral art classes, Peggy Boreham; best newcomer, Christine Little; Top Tray and Top Vase class, Peter Webb; highest marks in children’s classes, joint winners, Nathan and Ashley Shepherd, runner-up, Fiona Jobson.
