Barclays Money Skills Week at West Suffolk College

Students at West Suffolk College will be learning to shop wisely and become better at budgeting during Barclays Money Skills Week.

Students will be given the chance to improve their financial knowledge, skills and confidence, through Barclays Money Skills in FE colleges, a money management programme designed to increase their financial knowledge, skills and confidence.

The Barclays Money Skills programme aims to provide young people with the tools they need to stay in control of their budget. It involves entertaining and informative money management activities based on topics such as food, fashion, family and independent living.

During the week, which runs from April 15 to 19, personal support tutors will be delivering Barclays Money Skills tutorial sessions.

‘Taste test’ stands will be set up at lunchtime on Tuesday, April 16 on the main campus and on Thursday, April 18 at the Milburn Centre in Anglian Lane.

The ‘Taste Test’ gives students the chance to sample expensive branded foods against non-branded value ranges to see if they can tell the difference – and which they prefer.

Students across the college will also be invited to take part in a ‘spot the difference’ competition with a prize of a £20 Topshop/Topman voucher.

The exercise involves trying to spot the ten differences between two store cards and working out which one is the better option.

One winner will be drawn from all the correct entries on Tuesday, April 23.
