New GCSE assessment reforms couldn’t dent the achievements of pupils at Castle Manor Academy as they picked up their results last Thursday (August 21).
Students arrived at the academy to pick up their exam results. They were joined by 25 members of staff who were on hand to offer advice and to celebrate the occasion.
This year the percentage of students achieving the benchmark of A* to C grades in both English and maths is 51 per cent.
Jason Moore, 16, was pleased with his results, which included a distinction star in ICT, an A* in maths and As in biology, chemistry and physics.
“It was a long road, but I enjoyed it,” he said. “I got the results I thought I deserved.
“I’m trying to leave my options for the future open, but I am thinking about a career in banking.”
