West Suffolk MP Matthew Hancock says the British people have ‘enormous ingenuity and capacity’ to build a future after the vote to leave the European Union.
Mr Hancock, who campaigned to remain in the EU, said: “I stood on a promise in my manifesto to deliver a referendum on membership of the EU, so that everyone in our country could vote, equally, to decide on our nation’s future.
“Having campaigned to remain I am of course disappointed about the result, and sad that the Prime Minister has resigned after six years of steadfast leadership, in which the economy recovered, record jobs were created and the country strengthened.
“Now we must accept the result and come together. The British people have enormous ingenuity and capacity to build our future, and as your local MP and in Government it is my duty to play my part in doing that.”
