Anyone who is keen to delve into their family ancestry can find out more at an Open Day being held by the Haverhill Family History Group at the town’s library on Saturday, January 18, from 11am until 4pm.
For those who have started but have now hit a brick wall then Haverhill’s own professional family historian, Dr Karen Cummings, will be there to offer a free consultation.
Beginners can get help and advice from members of the group using the internet and other devices.
With 2014 marking the centenary of the start of World War One and the 75th year since the star of World War Two, the family history group is also ready, willing and able to offer help and advice to anyone who had a relative who fought in the wars and would like to find out more.
The group is currently in the process of compiling a Roll of Honour for all those named on Haverhill’s Second World War memorial and on the Memorial Shield on display at Haverhill Arts Centre and would like to hear from any family or friends connected with those names.
