Haverhill man suffers serious burns

A man in his 40s sustained serious burns while lighting a fire at his Haverhill home at around 9.30pm on Saturday.

An East Anglian Air Ambulance crew landed in a nearby park and were driven to the incident site by the fire service.

The Anglia Two crew administered pain relief and a general anaesthetic before flying the injured man to the specialist burns unit at Broomfield Hospital, in Chelmsford.
