A Haverhill Scouts leader has been honoured for four decades of service to the movement.
David Cianciola (pictured) received his award during the St George’s Day parade in Long Melford.
David, of Little Wratting, joined Cubs on his 8th birthday in Stansted - he was taken on early as he kept on about wanting to go so the leader let him start.
He continued on through Scouts and then into what was then Senior Scouts and he was a founder member when it changed into Venture Scouts.
David gained the Queen’s Scout award at Windsor Castle in 1978 where the inspection was carried out by the Queen.
He went on to become a warranted assistant leader and then leader.
Part of this was when living in Saffron Walden while going back to Stansted every week.
David has been Akela at 2nd Haverhill since July 1988.
