Well known Haverhill solicitor Nick Wray added another string to his bow when he gained full accreditation as a lay preacher.

A special celebration service took place at Haverhill Methodist Church recently, the culmination of years of training for Nick, which included practical assessments, exams and many essays.

Nick is held in high regard by the local congregation in Camps Road, Haverhill and by other churches he has preached at during his training.

The celebration service was attended by a large number of people from local churches and others travelled from Stowmarket, Ely and Red Lodge.

The service was conducted by Haverhill Methodist Church Minister, Rev Nigel Bishop and the visiting preacher Rev Barbara Garwood, who was also Nick’s tutor.

Nick was presented with a letter of congratulations from the President of the Methodist Church and received a Study Bible.

In his speech, Nick acknowledged those who had helped and encouraged him during his studies, not least his wife Jill. The service was followed by a reception in the church hall.
