Wesyt Suffolk health board authorised

NHS West Suffolk Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is among the fourth wave of CCGs to be officially authorised by the NHS Commissioning Board.

From April 1, the CCG will be the statutory body responsible for designing and buying health and health care services on behalf of patients, their families and carers, in west Suffolk.

The CCG is GP-led, meaning that doctors are at the forefront of the organisation that will see clinicians and highly experienced NHS managers working together with a budget of £263 million to spend on NHS services including, hospital care, mental health services and community services.

Dr Christopher Browning, CCG chairman said: “We are delighted that the NHS West Suffolk CCG has been officially authorised. This is a real achievement for everyone involved and signifies the beginning of a new era for healthcare in west Suffolk.

“The CCG has been operating in shadow form since last year and we have already been working with patients and our partners to improve the care patients receive.

“The CCG has already announced the date for its next patient revolution conference in Bury St Edmunds on 1 May. This event will focus on working better with patients and the public. Everyone is welcome to attend and free places can be booked by calling 01284 774811.”
