A Linton man has been jailed for 14 months after causing the death of Dean Cork, Haverhill, at the West Wratting crossroads on April 23.

Reginald Smith, 60, from Brinkman Road, had already pleaded guilt to causing death by dangerous driving and was sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court today (Wednesday, February 12).

Mr Cork, 47, from Gainsborough Road, suffered fatal injuries after the Piaggio T5 scooter he was riding was hit by a Vauxhall Combo van at 7.10am at the crossroads between Withersfield and Great Wratting.

Smith was sentenced to 14 months imprisonment and his driving licence was disqualified for two years until a compulsory re-test is passed.
