A brief history of the Sawston Fun Run
Sawston Fun Run is the largest annual community-led charity event in Cambridgeshire, and regularly attracts more than 1,100 entrants and hundreds of spectators to the 4.7 mile course that wins through the village.
It supports exclusively local charities and organisations to help the sick, young, elderly, and those undertaking youth and community development projects.
Since the inaugural race in 1986, organised by Sawston Village College, it has raised more than £368,000 for charities and youth groups in the area, especially in Sawston, Whittlesford, Duxford, Stapleford and the Shelfords.
The rotary club of began organising the race since 2001, engaging with community groups and businesses to enhance the event.
