The Suffolk Chamber of Commerce has been working in partnership with the National Apprenticeship Service to increase awareness and demand for apprentices amongst the business community.

The chamber recognises the importance of securing work placements for talented youngsters and to develop a pool of local talent for employers.

On the subject of jobs and apprenticeships in the region, John Dugmore from Suffolk Chamber of Commerce said:“Due to their hard work and entrepreneurial spirit, Suffolk businesses are now showing clear signs of growth. The recent labour market figures make for some positive reading, with private sector employment in the region up by 129,000 on 2012’s comparator.

“It is particularly pleasing to see apprenticeship numbers up by 19 per cent in Suffolk, well ahead of the national average. The Chamber will continue to work with partners and employers to ensure that the skills agenda stays on the top of the Government’s agenda, demanding that initiatives are business focused and business led, so that the business community takes a leadership role in shaping the skills needs of our young people and current workforce.

“The recently launched City Deal in Suffolk will bring these partners together to drive forward the skills agenda with aspiration to make a step change in the years to come,” John added.

Your input is invaluable to us so we would be grateful if you could complete our brief survey of only 8 questions so we can measure the uptake of apprentices in the region and identify the key sectors recruiting new apprentices.
