Proceeds from the Balsham Plough Monday were presented to the lucky beneficiaries at the Bell pub on Monday (Feb 4).

The Meadow Primary School received £500 towards its ongoing ICT Project.

The Chernobyl Childrens Link (Cambridge Branch) was given £500 towards enabling Chernobyl children to holiday in Balsham and £300 went to Balsham Youth Club to help it keep going after council cuts to its funding.

The Youth Club surprised the Plough Monday organisers with a gift of bird boxes which they had made to thank the Ploughmen and for them to put up in the village as and where they think best.

The Ploughmen have also earmarked £200 for any village organisation who may need funds during the year and which could be available upon request.

The remainder will be put towards the cost of holding the traditional village feast during the summer of 2014.
