A group representing residents on the Chalkstone estate has stopped meeting due to low turnout and a lack of new members.

The Chalkstone Area Tenants and Residents’ Association (CATRA) has suspended its meetings until further notice.

The group, chaired by Gwen Dalton, still hopes to hold a stall at the fun day planned to be held at the New Croft this summer, and also to have a Christmas meeting and annual general meeting (AGM).

Treasurer and town councillor Ernie Goody and Mrs Dalton are still contactable and wish to be kept abreast of any developments, such as the Strasbourg Square renovation, and meetings may still be convened if appropriate.

“The committee has diminished numbers over the last two years and at the same time have failed to encourage any new members,” said Cllr Goody.

“With a lack of members of the public turning up and with no real agenda items to discuss it was felt it was a waste of time and money having formal meetings.

“We are open for business and are still available by e-mail and telephone.”
