A fund-raising concert, auction and raffle is taking place tonight (Friday, October 11) at the Rose & Crown in Hundon to raise money for Plugin.
The charity supports the work of the Upper GI (gastrointestinal) Unit at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
Tonight’s event, which is free to attend, features a singer and a raffle, with prizes including an iPad mini and weekend stay in a B&B.
There is also an auction, with prizes that include a light aircraft flight, touring car racing at Silverstone, a tour of White Hart Lane, Tottenham Hotspur’s home ground, a spa day for two and lots more.
The event has been organised by Helen Montgomery, who lives in Clare Road, Hundon and has a relative being treated at the Upper GI Unit.
Her goal is to raise £4,000, which will buy the unit two low vacuum drain pumps, which are attached to a patient’s chest drain after surgery and enable them to be more mobile.
She said: “It’s just an idea I had a few weeks back and everything has just escalated.”
The fun starts at 7.30pm
