Families visiting the Suffolk Show on May 28 and 29 can save money by using a special Park and Ride service right to the showground’s entrance.
This year, the county council is providing a specific Suffolk Show service (called ‘500’), with buses running from 7am to 7pm every ten minutes from the London Road and Martlesham Park and Ride sites.
For as little as £1 return per adult, with under 20s travelling free, a family of four* will be able to get to and from the show for a little as the price of a cup of coffee.
Passengers entitled to bus concessions will also travel for free. Parking at the showground itself costs £5 per car on the day, £4 if booked in advance.
Passengers can also board at convenient points along the route, including Ipswich Railway Station and the Cricketers Layby opposite Tower Ramparts Bus Station.
The last bus heading for both Park and Ride sites leave the showground at 7p
Councillor Graham Newman, Suffolk County Council’s cabinet member for roads and transport, said: “The Suffolk Show is hugely popular and anyone who has been there knows how long it can take to reach the ground.
“With more people using buses, we’ll be able to reduce congestion for everyone whilst cutting out some of the travel stress for individual drivers.
“At less than half the cost of parking a car on the day and with 1,100 parking spaces available at our sites, we believe that Park and Ride is a great way of getting to the Suffolk Show this year.”
