South Cambridgeshire residents are being reminded about changes to the day their bins will be collected over Christmas and New Year.
Due to bank holidays, there will be changes to all bin collection dates for three weeks as follows:
Monday collections: one day later than usual between Christmas and New Year
The collection due on December 31 will be two days later on Thursday, January 2
Wednesday and Thursday collections: two days later than usual between Christmas and New Year and for the first week of 2014
Friday collections: three days later than usual between Christmas and New Year and for the first week of 2014.
All collections due between January 6 and 11 will be one day later than usual.
Collections will return to their regular pattern from Monday, January 14.
Festive bin collection schedules can be found in the centre pages of the winter issue of the South Cambs Magazine or at www.scambs.gov.uk/bins-by-parish
Reminders will also be posted on Twitter and Facebook.
Cllr Mick Martin, South Cambridgeshire District Council’s cabinet member for waste and recycling, said: “Due to the bank holidays that fall over Christmas and the New Year, it has been necessary to make some changes to the bin collection schedules and our crews will still be out – including on Saturdays – to make sure that everyone’s bins are collected.
“Typically, the amount of waste we collect during the festive season is much higher than most other times of the year so I would urge residents to recycle as much as possible and slim down their black bin to keep up their record of being some of the top recyclers in the country.”
