Pupils at a school in Clare saw red, and plenty of it, as they took part in a fund-raising day linked to the centenary later this year of the start of World War One.
Last Friday (February 7) pupils at Stour Valley Community School, in Cavendish Road, went to school wearing red to raise funds for a huge poppy planting exercise.
It forms part of the school’s big plans for commemorating the 100th anniversary of the start of the conflict.
A school spokeswoman said: “We are planning on planting thousands of Poppys around the school grounds in the Spring.
“We think a ‘Sea of Red‘ will look fantastic and will be the start of our Centenary Commemorations’
