As the world commemorates the D-Day landings in Normandy, students at Stour Valley Community School in Clare were out in the sunshine today (Friday) preparing their own commemorations for World War One.

The students are in the process of planting poppies which will spell out ‘100’ at the entrance to school.

These will provide an annual reminder of all those who gave their lives during the terrible conflict.
