A daughter has paid tribute after her father, who ran a chiropody practise in Haverhill, died suddenly.

Roger Metson, from Finchingfield, died aged 69 from a sudden heart attack on October 14.

He ran Roger Metson Chiropody and Podiatry from Sonia’s Hair Salon in Haverhill, and also had branches in Tiptree, Mersea and Finchingfield.

After working as a farmer he changed his career after studying footcare 17 years ago at university.

The business will continue to operate now despite his death as the family look to bring in someone else.

Roger leaves behind four children – Sharon Metson-Halsey, 42, from Braintree, Toby Metson, 39, from Chelmsford, Simon Metson-Bailey, 37, from London, and Kate Churchouse, 29, from Langley, Buckinghamshire.

He also leaves behind five grandchildren – Simon’s sons George, seven, and baby Frank, Sharon’s children Paris, seven, and Cory, five, and Kate’s baby Henry.

Sharon said: “He ran all of the branches – he was 69 and worked harder than a 20 year old.

“It was such a shock because he was a healthy eater and didn’t smoke and nothing came up on any health checks, it was just very sudden.

“He will be very missed.”
