Delayed choral open night a success

Haverhill Choral Society open night proves a hit

Musical director Jane Wright welcomed the enthusiastic singers, plus five new people eager to join the ranks.

They sang from Benjamin Britten`s Rejoice in the Lamb, C Hubert Parry`s Blest Pair of Sirens, and Leonard Bernstein`s Chichester Psalms, pieces that will be performed on Saturday, April 27 in the Old Independent Church.

As is customary the group had a tea/coffee break, with delicious home-made biscuits by Sheelagh Fiddy.

The evening was concluded with a rousing rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel`s Messiah, the idea being that it was something familiar for everyone to take part in.

The inclement weather curtailed two rehearsals but couldn’t dampen the spirit of the singers of Haverhill Choral Society.

The society is eager to have even more singers, so do go and join them.
