East Town Park in Haverhill has been awarded The Green Flag Award for 2014/15.

The announcement coincides with the launch of National Love Parks Week designed to encourage more of us to enjoy spending time in our local parks.

Cllr Sarah Stamp, St Edmundsbury Borough Council’s cabinet member for Leisure, Culture and Heritage( above) said: “The school summer holidays have just started and a picnic or two in the local park is surely a must over the next six weeks.

“It’s inexpensive, it’s fun, and there are plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy and let off steam.

“They are fantastic places for families to visit and what is more, they are right on your doorstep.
