BUS COMPLAINTS
Following complaints about Stagecoach Cambus’ number 113 bus from Haverhill to Cambridge, the company defended the service during a public inquiry into the issue.
During the inquiry - ordered by the traffic commissioner for the eastern region - Cambus managing director Inglis Lyon said the 113 service was particularly difficult to manage, and had significant problems negotiating the narrow streets of Linton.
The bus was used by pupils travelling from Haverhill to school in Linton, and many parents had complained the bus was often late and overcrowded, resulting in children sometimes not being allowed on the bus.
CHILDCARE CENTRE
Plans to potentially invest more than £200,000 on a family centre in the Clements Surgery premises were set to be discussed by councillors at St Edmundsbury Council.
Single parent families would particularly benefit from the project, which was proposed as as part of the council’s Clements Health Improvement Project.
The project aimed to address issues of poor health on the estate and the council proposed to help Cartwheels Children’s Centre buy the surgery building to house the new family centre and nursery.
