Help is now at hand for football ground hoppers everywhere thanks to a new website created by a former resident of Stambourne.

Mike Onslow, who now lives in Portsmouth and works as a web designer, came up with www.FindAFootyMatch.co.uk after meeting with some frustrating times when looking for a non-league match to go to.

He said: “I used to go and watch a lot of random games and it used to frustrate me how I could never find a fixture.

“You could go on each league’s website or buy the Non-League Paper, but it was a very long winded process.

“The basic aim of the site is to provide football fans and ground hoppers with the ability to find matches local to them, within a certain radius they are willing to travel and on a date to suit them.”

Mike, 23, who is being helped by friend Ben Holland, also hopes the website will promote non-league football.

Two clubs, Chasetown and Biggleswade United, have so far contacted him to see how they can work to together to their mutual gain.

The site is completely free of advertising, so generates no income for Mike and Ben, who are purely interested in helping other football fans.

It has clubs from the Premier League down to step four (division one of the Southern, Isthmian and Northen Leagues) on its database, plus the top four divisions of Scottish football.

Mike is currently adding all 294 teams from step five, including Haverhill Rovers, to the database.
