Firefighters visited Coupals Primary School to give Rabbit Class (reception) pupils an insight into their work.

The educational visit was part of the school’s topic of ‘People who help us’, which two weeks earlier saw the class visit Haverhill police station.

The Haverhill-based firefighters dressed class teacher, Fiona Barnard, as a firefighter before showing pupils some safety drills and going outside to try the hoses.

Although the fire fighters were called away to an emergency they returned to continue with the hoses.

A competition to see who could move a cone the furthest using the hose was held between the children and Miss Barnard and teaching assistant Tracy Brialey.
