Anglia Revenues Partnership is delighted to have been announced as a winner in the prestigious Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation (IRRV) Performance awards.
The partnership, which is made up of, Breckland Council, Forest Heath District Council, East Cambridgeshire District Council and St Edmundsbury Borough Council, won gold in the Excellence in Anti Fraud Award.
The Awards Panel looked for organisations who could demonstrate they have excelled in the area of anti-fraud. Inspections carried out in August and presented to the Awards Panel recognised the fraud team’s innovative ways of working.
The team covers a rural area in excess of 1,155 square miles, which includes nine towns, one city and serves a population of approximately 386,600, and say their success is down to making the best use of resources, having highly trained and skilled officers and utilising new technology to identify fraud.
The winners in each category were announced and trophies presented during the IRRV Annual Conference on Thursday, 3rd October at Telford International Centre, hosted by comedian Dave Spikey.
Cllr Dave Ray, St Edmundsbury Borough Council Cabinet member for Resources and Performance said;
“Public money lost to fraud is money that is supposed to be spent for the public good, and it is a major part of organised crime today.
“Successfully spotting and investigating fraud needs a high degree of awareness, skill and cooperation between agencies.
“I am very pleased that the commitment of police, councils and all our partners in working together has helped gain this well deserved award.”
Cllr Stephen Edwards, Forest Heath District Council Cabinet member for Resources, Governance and Performance said,
“The anti-fraud culture that has delivered this well deserved award is the result of effective partnership working across a wide area between councils, Police and other parties. Our fraud prevention work, particularly in fraud awareness training for external agencies and landlords, means that funds can be used for those for whom it is intended.”
Cllr William Smith, Breckland Council’s Executive Member for the Anglia Revenues Partnership, said; “The team successfully demonstrated how four councils across three counties meet the aspirations and demands of each Council and its residents.
“Winning the award confirms the hard work of all our staff who strive to provide excellent service for all our customers and partners, and winning this award clearly shows the partnership’s dedication in achieving this.”
Cllr Peter Moakes, who sits on the Anglia Revenues Partnership board for East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “The benefits we have seen in East Cambridgeshire of being part of the Anglia Revenues Partnership have been significant.
“Our residents receive a first class service and the award is a recognition of the dedication and professionalism of those who hard work can often unnoticed and unheralded.”
