Get active this New Year at the Cambourne Trim Trail
People working in Cambourne can jump-start New Year resolutions to improve their health with free lunchtime fitness sessions at the village’s new Trim Trail.
A series of four 30-40 minute lunchtime training sessions, led by a qualified personal trainer, will see participants use nine exercise stations sited around the eco-park opposite Monkfield Park Primary School on School Lane, including multi-use exercise benches, ladders, chin-up bars and sit-up benches.
The newly completed £10,000 Trim Trail was built using developer funds known as Section 106 contributions secured by South Cambridgeshire District Council, and marks the final part of the equipped play space and eco-park development.
The Trail was commissioned, and is managed, by Cambourne Parish Council.
Local South Cambridgeshire District Councillor Alison Elcox will spur participants on when she launches the first lunchtime session tomorrow (Monday, January 14).
Cllr Elcox said: “I’m looking forward to trying out the new Trim Trail and hope that lots of people will use their lunchtime to take advantage of these free fitness sessions.
“Many people are looking to work off Christmas calories and put healthy New Year resolutions into action, so this is a perfect way to get started.
“It’s great to see sports activities created for people who work and live in the area.
“Everyone needs local, accessible sports facilities if the legacy of the Olympics is to inspire them and the new Trim Trail offers a comprehensive mix of exercises that will help to get residents, businesses, clubs and communities involved in sport.”
For more information on the free fitness sessions contact South Cambridgeshire District Council’s sports project coordinator, Helen Stepney, on (01954) 713362.
People wanting to take part in the sessions can meet at Cambourne Business Park Marketing Office at 12.15pm tomorrow (Monday, January 14) or 12.30pm at the Trim Trail.
