Going mad for Madagascar at Linton Zoo

Lemurs at Linton Zoo

Lemurs at Linton Zoo

Linton Zoo is offering visitors the chance to have a behind-the-scenes tour of its Rare Leumur Breeding Centre at 4pm on Saturday (March 9).

The tour includes a talk, presentation, and chance to hand feed and be crawled on by red-ruffed lemurs Ruby and Rumbles.

Kim Simmons, from the zoo, said: “Immerse yourself in a VIP behind the scenes tour of our Rare Lemur Breeding Centre, hand feed and be prepared to be climbed upon by our mischievous pair Ruby and Rumble the Red-ruffed lemurs.

“Enjoy a short presentation by Josia Razafindramanana on her field work with Crowned Sifaka in Madagascar.

“Then, over a cup of coffee and cake, chat to our field conservation guests and officials from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in Madagascar.

“We’re very excited about this very rare opportunity to hear from those directly involved in the projects we support, on how the money we’ve raised is making a difference to these very special animals.

“Space restricts so we only have a limited number of tickets available at just £15 per person, all of this of course goes towards our lemur conservation fund supporting lemurs in the wild.

“The evening will begin at 4pm once the main part of the zoo is closed.

“Places will be booked on a first come first served basis.

“Because of the presentation by Josia, this evening is probably more geared towards an adult audience, however children are welcome to book places when accompanied by a participating adult, but babies under two years of age cannot be admitted into the rare lemur breeding centre.”

Tickets cost £15 – call 01223 891308 or e-mail lintonzoo@hotmail.co.uk.

Lemurs live exclusively on the African island of Madagascar, and feature in the cartoon film series named after the island.
