‘Hasa’ is the name of Linton Zoo’s prickly newcomer

Linton Zoo’s newly born porcupette has been called ‘Hasa’ – Swahili for ‘Special’.

The name was chosen by Clare McGlasham, who subsequently won her own sponsorship packahe of Hasa for the year.

Kim Simmons, from the zoo, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who put forward a name, Holly especially was a very popular suggestion however, we don’t know whether the baby is a boy or a girl.

“In the end it was a very close call with some fantastic names to choose from, so don’t be surprised if you see other zoo babies with some of the names that have been suggested.”
