Hockey action from Leisure Centre as Haverhill Ladies 1st team takes on Letchworth Ladies 1st.

After nine games without a win in the East Women’s League Division Two SW, Haverhill are now unbeaten in two.

Following their win at rock-bottom Crostyx II last week, they earned a 2-2 draw in the first of a five game home run when they hosted Letchworth on Saturday (November 24).

The hosts were slow out of the blocks and fell behind as the visitors broke quickly from the first attack of the game when a deflected shot went in.

They were soon in the ascendancy and had their pressure rewarded when Elaine Ward fired them level from a short corner to make it all square at the interval.

After a half time grilling Letchworth came out strong and soon went ahead again from a short corner.

Haverhill responded as Kim Thomas set off on a mazy run, weaving past four defenders and then rounding the goalkeeper to equalise.

Captain Tina Bunch left the field injured after coming off worse in a clattering tackle and Letchworth had a goal disallowed as Haverhill held on for the draw.

They next host fifth placed East London on Saturday (December 1, 3pm).
