Samuel Ward Academy held their annual Christmas concert before a packed house - and over 80 pupils performing, the night wasn’t going to be a forgettable one.

The show kicked off with the academy’s new 50 piece orchestra giving a rousing rendition of Rock Around the Clock.

The concert moved quickly through a huge variety of music genres and styles and the first half was ended by a performance of Joni Mitchell’s River by the amazing Jess Dixon.

The second half saw the various choirs singing and the chamber choir gave an excellent performance that included sign language.

The show was ended by a selection of popular Christmas standards played by the house band.

Parents and staff were extremely complimentary and both said that the standard and sheer numbers of pupils involved were both very impressive.
