Three primary schools are contributing towards writing a new ‘Torch book’.
Place Farm and Burton End schools in Haverhill will each write two chapters of the book as there are two classes in the year two group, while Thurlow will also contribute a chapter.
A literary workshop was held recently where youngsters shared some of their imaginative ideas with children’s author James Campbell, who will now write chapter one of the book.
He then read the chapter to Thurlow pupils.
Teacher Sandra Bottomley said: “The children were all very excited to see James again and hear him read the first chapter of the Torch book.
“We are looking forward to writing our chapter and taking the book to Place Farm next week.”
A similar book was made last year featuring a number of schools both in and around Haverhill.
The project is designed to increase literacy and an interest in reading in children.
