A mentor and advisor with 30 years of experience in helping businesses to grow explained to the Best of Haverhill members how to ensure they beat the current recession when they held their latest event.
John Porter, who set up Business Improvements in March 1984, told the business people gathered at the Days Inn hotel that they need to follow specific objectives to achieve what they need to in order to survive the recession.
He said: “Most business owners know what to do with their business, but most business owners don’t do what they know, that’s why they need people like me.”
Mr Porter gave numerous tips to help those present make the most out of their businesses, including knowing your unique selling point, valuing your time, thinking outside the square, knowing how to generate interest in your business, surveying the market properly, broadening your knowledge, seeking advice and outsourcing things you are not good at and asking yourself ‘why would I buy from me.’
At the end of his presentation Mr Porter confirmed that Best of Haverhill members would be able to claim a free consultancy session with him, for up to two hours a week.
Anyone who is interested would be able to contact him via his business.
