Two Haverhill business men got the chance to rub shoulders - although only figuratively - with a former US President during a charity gala.

Robin and Daniel Pilley, the owners of CXG property Services in High Street, Haverhill, were invited to the Entrepreneurs Gala Dinner in aid of the Prince’s Trust at the Intercontinental Hotel, in Park Lane, London.

While there the two brothers got the chance to meet former US President Bill Clinton, who gave an inspirational speech about addressing world poverty and the duty successful business have in supporting organisations such as his foundation.

He also spoke about the great work this and other charities are doing around the globe.

It was, said Robin, a great honour for CXG to be part of such a prestigious event and join a host of celebrity’s including Kevin Spacey, Jemima Khan, Caprice, Levi Roots and Ruby Wax.

Robin added: “It was a great evening raising thousands of pounds for both the foundation and the Prince’s Trust which has supported and encouraged many young budding entrepreneurs who go on to run successful companies.

“Without the Prince’s Trust to assist with either financial or advisory help these people would never have had the chance to reach their potential as they often come from deprived backgrounds and have therefore not been afforded the same opportunities from main stream society.

“The evening was a resounding success, and following the dinner the charity auction raised a huge amount of money which will be shared between the Bill Clinton Foundation and the Prince’s Trust which will further help Britain’s young business talent.

“This is even more important today in view of the present climate as the banks are reluctant to lend to small businesses.

“Events such as these pull everyone together and demonstrate if you have the motivation and desire to succeed then you can reach your personal goals.”
